Extract Text from Driver License — Read License Data Online

Rental car forms, insurance quotes and HR onboarding ask for license details — and the small embossed text is easy to misread. Upload a photo and extract name, license number, class, dates and address into clean text. Licenses are sensitive: use a copy, and delete files after use.

Frequently asked questions

What fields are extracted from a driver license?

Name, license number, class/category, date of birth, issue and expiry dates, address and restrictions/endorsements when printed. Field names vary by state or country, but the OCR keeps the printed labels with each value.

Why can't I just retype it?

You can — but license numbers contain letter/number combinations that are easy to transpose (0 vs O, 1 vs I), and one typo on a rental form can cause a rejection. OCR removes that error class.

Is it safe to upload my license?

Treat it as sensitive: scan a copy, redact what you don't need, upload, extract, delete from history. Files are encrypted and never shared.

Does it read the barcode on the back?

No — the barcode encodes the same fields but isn't OCR'd. Extract the printed text from the front; that covers what forms typically ask for.
