Why do paper receipts fade, and can you still read them?
Most store receipts are thermal paper, which darkens or fades with heat, light and time — sometimes within months. Scan them promptly. The tool's contrast correction rescues mildly faded ones, but badly aged receipts are unreadable even by eye.
